We have a semiconductor with two bands: The lower band is described by tex2html_wrap_inline5995 , the upper band by tex2html_wrap_inline6465 . The two bands are separated by an energy gap of tex2html_wrap_inline6467 .

(a) Calculate the chemical potential as a function of the temperature.

(b) Show that the system can be treated using classical statistics at low temperatures.
