Problem: Fermi Surface Nesting in Two Dimensions

      In Figure 9.1, the

  equation2990

function is plotted for a two-dimensional electron system on a square lattice, characterized by the energy dispersion tex2html_wrap_inline7083 . The band is nearly half-filled, tex2html_wrap_inline7085 , corresponding to band filling of 0.42. The temperature is much less than the Fermi temperature.

Determine the peak positions in tex2html_wrap_inline7087 as a function of tex2html_wrap_inline7091 for small tex2html_wrap_inline7093 .gif
