        In a three-dimensional free-electron system the dielectric function is described by the Linhard function, Eq. . Take a simple approximation for the effective screening function : L=1 for , and L=0 otherwise (Figure ). Use this function to investigate the asymptotic behavior of the electric potential around a point charge impurity.
