Problem: Hall Effect in Two-Dimensional Metals

The conduction electron band in a two-dimensional metal is described by

  equation2345

where a is the lattice spacing. The relaxation time tex2html_wrap_inline6589 is independent of the electron momentum or energy. Determine the Hall coefficient for a nearly empty, a half-filled, and a nearly full band and discuss the result. (Note: Results from a paper by N.P. Ong [22] may be used for this problem without proof.)
